Pap Smear

Pap Smear

Also known as a pap test, a pap smear is a means of testing for cervical cancer. This examination involves harvesting cells from the cervix, the narrow, lower end of the uterus. Testing for cervical cancer is crucial to a woman’s health and wellness. If earlier signs of it are detected, the more success you may have toward treatment. Additionally, a pap smear also helps look for any alterations within cervical cells  that may indicate cancer developments in the future.

The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists provides answers to many frequently asked questions regarding cervical cancer and the importance of pap smears as a preventative examination.
